Judith Kathleen Eardley 1939 - 1997
Judith Eardley asked that part of her estate be used for wildlife.
Jude loved animals all her life.
She grew up on a farm, geese that were for fattening up
at Christmas survived as her friends.
When she was only ten, Jude stopped a man from
beating a horse by threatening to report him to the RSPCA if he did not stop.
After spending many years helping people as a psychotherapist, Jude had
hoped to spend her retirement helping animals. The Judith Eardley Save Wildlife Assoc Inc is her legacy.
At its outset the Board sought to implement themes in the charity that have the qualities Jude showed in her life.
When Jude was in intensive care a friend wrote she would wear colourful clothes as Jude did.
It is not accidental that our shop is colourful. Jude was courageous and lived her life.
She never allowed herself to be bound by convention, norms and negativity,
being a twin, Jude always insisted on her own individuality.
As a psychotherapist, she helped many to find and harness their own individuality.
Themes of our association therefore are to be bold and “go for it” to be positive and to celebrate individuality.
The Judith Eardley Save Wildlife Centre seeks to avoid uniformity, to sell interesting and different items
and to provide a shop that is different because it is individual.
People who know Jude would say
it was never long before laughter occurred when she was about. Accordingly we try not to take ourselves
too seriously and as an ideal harmony is a theme of the Association.
Judith Kathleen Eardley lived life as an adventure in the same way we endeavour to view
our charity as an adventure.
We hope many people will join us and help us to help save wildlife that can no longer save itself.
